The Journal: Phase I
A description of
the first part of our journey
Completed from
August 31, 2002 to September 25, 2002
My healing journey began 10 years ago and will continue for the rest of my life. This “Walk to Remember” is a physical journey of 2000+ miles and about 14 months. After much thought and planning we decided to divide the journey into three phases. We began on August 31, 2002 at Eric’s gravesite in Chardon, Ohio where he was born and lived most of his life. Many friends gathered there to pray and walk with me for several miles. We walked and talked and laughed. It was a sunny, warm summer day, perfect for a long walk. We arrived in St. Louis Mo. On September 25, 2002, tired but excited. We drove home through Chicago to visit Jim’s son, Scott and to help celebrate his birthday. We arrived home several weeks earlier than we had planned.
Please take a few minutes to travel phase I though our photos. (Return to Selection Menu and click on Phase I Photos). Many friends walked with me, we met people at garage sales and wineries, the tavern owner, town characters and many others. The pictures with the flags were taken on September 11th at a memorial service at South Vienna Ohio Elementary School. See pictures of Biscuit drinking and sleeping, Jim at command central, and my tired feet. In the last picture we are in St Louis, Missouri smiling and celebrating a journey to remember.
